Arturo Hernandez

Arturo Hernandez, MS, is accomplished in genomics and molecular biology, developing his skill sets in his previous job as a next generation sequencing specialist at La Jolla Institute for immunology. In his time in La Jolla Institute, Arturo and his team won the XPRIZE Rapid Covid Testing competition by designing a faster and more efficient qPCR based method for COVID testing. Arturo is a Bioengineer with a Master of Science in Life Sciences with a concentration in Biomedicine and Bionanotechnology. During his masters, Arturo engineered exosomes by genetically modifying cells in order to use them as a potential drug vehicle. Originally born in San Diego, CA, he grew up in Ensenada, Mexico. Outside of the world of science, Arturo’s most loved activities are listening and playing music, dancing, boxing, and basketball.
