Lead Wetland Scientist at SWCA

Henry Schumacher has a diverse work experience in the environmental consulting field. Henry currently holds the position of Lead Wetland Scientist at SWCA Environmental Consultants since October 2021. Previously, they worked at Tetra Tech as a Senior Ecologist IV from August 2015 to October 2021, where they conducted ecological field surveys and ensured environmental regulatory compliance for clients in the energy development sector. Before that, they worked at Golder Associates as a Project Ecologist from July 2012 to August 2015, where their responsibilities were similar. Prior to Golder Associates, they were an Ecologist at Pennsylvania Soil and Rock from March 2011 to July 2012, where they focused on environmental field surveys and regulatory compliance in the energy development field. Furthermore, Henry also gained experience at GAI Consultants, Inc. as a Senior Environmental Specialist/Lead Environmental Specialist from April 2008 to September 2010, specializing in environmental field surveys and regulatory compliance for energy development projects.

Henry Schumacher has a strong education background in the field of Ecology and Evolution. Henry obtained a Master of Science degree from the University of Pittsburgh from 2006 to 2008. Prior to that, they were enrolled in the Ph.D program in Ecology and Evolution at the same university from 2003 to 2005.

Henry also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Ecology, Evolution, and Organismal Biology from Tulane University, which they completed from 1996 to 2000.

In addition to their academic achievements, Henry Schumacher has obtained several certifications relevant to their field. Henry became a Professional Wetland Scientist (PWS) through the Society of Wetland Scientists - Professional Certification Program in May 2014. Henry also holds certifications in First Aid/CPR from Red Cross / American Heart Association, Wilderness First Aid from Red Cross, and Wilderness First Aid from Red Cross, all obtained in 2010.

Furthermore, Henry Schumacher obtained the Certified Ecologist certification from the Ecological Society of America in June 2009. Henry also holds various permits, including the PA Wild Plant Collection Permit from the PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources obtained in May 2009, and the Wild Animal Scientific Collection Permit from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources obtained in April 2009.

Additionally, Henry has completed several training programs relevant to their work. Henry obtained the 1987 Manual Wetland Delineation Training from the US Army Corps of Engineers in 2008, and the Wetland Biocriteria Training from the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency, also in 2008.
