Sebastian Shaffer

Sebastian Shaffer, PhD has an extensive work experience in the medical and scientific field. Sebastian is currently serving as the Senior Medical Director at Symbiotix, LLC since April 2023. Prior to this, they held various roles at Medical Knowledge Group, starting as the Director of Medical and Scientific Affairs from March 2019 to February 2020. Sebastian then progressed to become the Senior Medical Director of Medical and Scientific Affairs from March 2020 to February 2021, and later promoted to the position of Vice President of Medical and Scientific Affairs from March 2021 to March 2023.

Before joining Medical Knowledge Group, Shaffer worked at International Meetings & Science as an Associate Medical Director from September 2016 to February 2019. Sebastian also gained experience as a Medical/Scientific Writer at Guidemark Health from September 2014 to April 2016, and as an Associate Medical/Scientific Writer from April 2016 to September 2016.

Shaffer's previous experience includes serving as a Data Scientist/Content Developer at CantileverWEB.com from October 2012 to December 2014, and as a Freelance Medical Writer at BGB New York from March 2014 to September 2014. Sebastian also worked as a Contract Editor at AJE - American Journal Experts from December 2013 to May 2014.

Shaffer started their career as a Graduate Research Assistant at Weill Cornell Medical College from September 2004 to August 2012. Prior to that, they gained experience as a Research Technician at Massachusetts General Hospital from September 2002 to August 2004.

Sebastian Shaffer, PhD, obtained a Sc.B. in Neuroscience from Brown University in the years 1998 to 2002. Later, they pursued a Ph.D. in Neuroscience at the Joan & Sanford I. Weill Medical College of Cornell University from 2004 to 2012. Additionally, Sebastian holds several certifications from LinkedIn, including Coaching Skills for Leaders and Managers, Delegating Tasks, Delivering Employee Feedback, How to Present and Stay on Point, Speaking Confidently and Effectively, Strategic Thinking, and Transitioning from Manager to Leader, all obtained in 2022.
