Asif Syed

Asif Syed has a diverse work experience in the field of design engineering, with a specialization in analog and mixed-signal ICs for power management integrated circuits (PMICs). Asif started their career at Advanced VLSI Design Lab, Sponsored Research and Industrial Consultancy in 2001 as a Research Consultant, where they successfully designed, laid out, and tested a hysteretic burst-mode dc-dc converter.

Asif then joined the University of Colorado Boulder in 2002 as a Research Assistant, where they focused on the design of Digital Pulse Width Modulator (DPWM) architectures and circuits for use in PMICs. Additionally, they worked as a Teaching Assistant during this time.

In 2004, Asif joined National Semiconductor as an Intermediate Circuit Design Engineer, where they designed, tested, and debugged analog IPs and digital controller circuits for high-performance dc-dc converters. Asif also gained experience in Verilog coding and synthesis of digital controllers.

From 2007 to 2010, they returned to Advanced VLSI Design Lab as a Research Consultant, working on various projects for companies such as National Semiconductor, Tokyo, and Infineon, Villach. Asif'sfocus was on high-frequency gate driver design, digital pulse-width modulator design, and LED drivers.

In 2013, Asif joined SiWays Microelectronics as a Senior Design Engineer, where they designed several silicon-proven ICs, including high-side switches, matrix drivers, USB switches, LDOs, and multiple analog and mixed-signal IPs for ultra-low power PMICs. Asif also developed ideas for layout automation, digital control design, and efficient architectures for switchers and voltage regulators. Asif successfully prototyped FPGA-based digitally controlled dc-dc converters during their tenure.

Most recently, Asif Syed is working at Tagore Technology as the Manager - Design. Asif took on this role in April 2021, after serving as a Senior Design Engineer since December 2019. No end date has been provided for their current role at Tagore Technology.

Throughout their career, Asif Syed has demonstrated expertise in design engineering, specifically in the field of PMICs, and has gained valuable experience in layout automation, digital control design, and efficient IC architectures.

Asif Syed has an extensive educational background in the field of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. Starting in 1997, they attended the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, where they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering in 2001. After completing their undergraduate studies, Asif furthered their education at the University of Colorado Boulder from 2002 to 2004, obtaining a Master's degree in Electrical. Following this, they returned to the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, where they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from 2008 to 2016.
