Leigh Honeywell began their career in 2005 as a Technology Applications Specialist at Bell Canada. In 2006, they began working as a Consultant. From 2008-2011, they worked at Symantec as a Malware Operations Engineer. From 2011-2014, they worked at Microsoft as a Security Program Manager 2. In 2014, they began working at Heroku (a Salesforce.com Company) as a Senior Platform Security Engineer. From 2015-2017, they worked at Slack as a Security Response Manager and Senior Staff Security Engineer. In 2017, they began working at the ACLU as a Technology Fellow, applying their technical expertise to legal briefs, public writing, and advocacy work. During their time at the ACLU, they were quoted as an expert in media outlets such as CNN, Gizmodo, CNET, and Quartz. In 2018, they became the CEO of Tall Poppy, and in 2019 they began working as a Venture Partner at Pioneer Fund.

Leigh Honeywell obtained a BSc. in Computer Science (Major) and Equity Studies (Major) from the University of Toronto - Innis College between 2002 and 2011. In December 2016, Leigh Honeywell also obtained a Psychological First Aid certificate from Coursera Course Certificates.
