Dave Thompson

Dave Thompson has a diverse work experience spanning multiple companies and roles. Dave currently works at Tenstorrent Inc. as a Senior Principal PCB Design Engineer, a position they have held since August 2021. Prior to this, they worked as a Principal PCB Design Engineer at the same company from November 2018 to August 2021.

Before joining Tenstorrent Inc., Dave worked at Sandvine as a Senior Hardware Engineer from March 2018 to November 2018. In this role, they assisted with the qualification and production launch of an updated system and spearheaded the hardware release of new OEM server systems.

Dave's earlier experience includes working at Christie Digital Systems as a Senior Product Developer / Engineering Manager, Electrical from August 2016 to March 2018. Dave was responsible for developing a new unified electrical architecture, negotiating requirements, and leading a team of developers. Prior to this, they worked as an Advanced Product Developer from June 2011 to August 2016, where they were responsible for architectural decisions and designing complex PCB assemblies. Dave also worked as a Product Developer from July 2008 to June 2011, where they developed PCB designs and participated in design reviews.

Dave's career started at Connect Tech Inc. as a Hardware Engineer from January 2004 to July 2008. Dave generated product specifications, performed schematic capture and PCB layout, and oversaw the manufacturing process.

Before joining the industry, Dave worked as a Research Assistant at the University of Guelph in 2002, designing a haptic interface for a vision system. Dave also worked as a Developmental Student at Ontario Power Generation in 2001, completing a digital conversion project.

Dave Thompson completed a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the University of Guelph. Dave also obtained a Professional Engineer certification from Professional Engineers Ontario in 2008.
