Position Summary

We are seeking a dynamic Senior Director to build and lead the IT team at Tessera Therapeutics. This position reports directly to the Senior Vice President of Digital Systems and will offer an exciting opportunity to take on IT leadership for a fast growing Gene Therapy company. This team will be responsible for IT services, infrastructure, projects, security, and partner relationships. This includes, but not limited to:

  • Oversight and execution of enterprise IT-related projects across the facets of the company
  • Planning, coordination, delivery, and change management for enterprise IT projects
  • Collaborating on systems roadmaps to meet strategic and operations needs of the company
  • Oversight of core IT infrastructure, services, and partners
  • Implementation of digital security policies

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with company stakeholders to define business systems roadmaps; including enterprise architecture & security, to meet strategic and operational needs of the company
  • Responsible for implementation and operation of all site and company infrastructure, end user computing, supporting lab computing needs.
  • Responsible for overall IT process development, documentation & oversight, e.g., user, vendor & company onboarding, off-boarding, end user support, lab support, and emergency management.
  • Own the coordination, implementation and change management related to cross-enterprise IT projects not in the areas of G&A and GxP.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders on implementation of security policies and manage the overall security strategy for the company’s growth.
  • Responsible for developing productive and strong company end user, executive, internal stakeholder, as well as vendor, and partner relationships. Also, critical to build connections and relationships across the other digital teams in order to meet strategic and operational needs of the company.
  • Work with company finance and contracts teams for all IT-related budget planning and ongoing financial management within enterprise IT.

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS/BA degree in Computer Science, Business Information Systems, or another related field, and 15+ years of hands-on IT management experience, and a minimum of 5 years experience in the biotech and/or pharmaceutical industry.
  • Extensive and hands-on expertise in:
    • Business systems requirements, roadmaps, implementation & operations in a Biotech setting – including manufacturing & clinical systems
    • End user computing systems, i.e., Mac, PC, mobile devices
    • Identity management, e.g., Okta
    • SAAS applications, e.g., 0365, Zoom, Slack, etc.
    • Experience migrating to a Microsoft-centric environment
    • Meeting room technology
  • Experience with and understanding of:
    • Cloud computing
    • Networking
    • Information Security
  • Experience managing technology projects; especially managing IT aspects of high growth buildouts
  • Extensive vendor management experience
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills
  • Friendly, communicative, collaborative approach and style
