Philip Javellana

Director, Marketing & Communications at The Aspen Institute

Philip Javellana is the director for marketing and communications in the Aspen Institute’s Leadership Division and is responsible for telling the stories of those making an impact on the world thanks to the Institute’s portfolio of youth and adult leadership development programs. Prior to joining the Aspen Institute, Philip was an engagement and insights supervisor at Meredith Xcelerated Marketing (MXM) where he led social media strategy and insights reporting for a number of high profile national and international entertainment and consumer brands. Before MXM, Philip served as the senior brand and communications manager at City Year Los Angeles. At City Year, he led public relations, digital media, video production, and speaker training initiatives to communicate the impact of the hundreds of AmeriCorps members serving in Los Angeles’s highest-need schools. He has also held positions at NBC, MTV, and the National Press Foundation. Philip holds an MSc in global media from the London School of Economics and an MA in global communications from the Annenberg School at the University of Southern California. He earned his BA in public communication at American University in Washington, DC, where he graduated magna cum laude.
