Project Director, Ready (responsive Early Access For Durham’s Young Children) Project at The Center for Child & Family Health

Katharine Cannon, M.Ed. has a diverse work experience in the field of child and family health. Katharine has worked as the Project Director for the READY Project at The Center for Child & Family Health since October 2019. Prior to that, they served as the Training & Dissemination Specialist at the same organization from April 2018 to September 2019.

Before joining The Center for Child & Family Health, Katharine worked at Orange County Head Start/Early Head Start as an Education Manager from June 2015 to March 2018. During their time there, they played a crucial role in ensuring the effective delivery of services to children and families, managing a staff of 6 and serving 178 children in 21 classrooms. Katharine also contributed to program and policy development and implementation across the program.

From 2005 to 2015, Katharine was the Center Director at OCHS/EHS Fairview Child & Family Center, where they oversaw daily operations and provided strategic planning for the center. Katharine managed a staff of 20 and served 76 children and their families each year.

Prior to their roles at Orange County Head Start/Early Head Start, Katharine worked as the Director of Child Care Resource and Referral at the Randolph County Partnership for Children from January 2003 to March 2005. And from January 2000 to October 2002, they served as the Youth Director at YWCA of Greensboro.

Throughout their career, Katharine has demonstrated strong leadership, management, and strategic planning skills in various roles within the child and family health sector.

Katharine Cannon, M.Ed. earned a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and Religious Studies from Guilford College in 1995. Katharine then obtained a Master's degree in Education (Risk & Prevention) from Harvard Graduate School of Education in 1997. In 2005, they also obtained the North Carolina Early Childhood Administration Credential, Level III from NCDCDEE. In 2017, they pursued continuing education in the Fundamentals of Project Management at DTCC.
