Matilde Soares has a diverse work experience in various roles and organizations. In 2018 and 2019, they worked as a Legal Trainee and then as a Legal Administrator at Jaime Roriz, Advogados. In 2020, they served as a Legal Intern in the Educational Department of the Embassy of Portugal in the United Kingdom. Later that year, they became a Legal Intern at the European Council on Refugees and Exiles (ECRE), where they contributed to the development of the European Database of Asylum Law. In 2021, they took on the role of Monitoring & Evaluation of Trafficking in Persons Administrator for the community of practice, organizing webinars and supporting global efforts to fight modern slavery. Matilde'smost recent role, starting in 2022, is as a Monitoring & Research Officer at The Freedom Fund, where they are responsible for developing M&E tools and processes, analyzing data, and presenting findings to international audiences.

Matilde Soares completed their education in a chronological manner. From 2020 to 2021, they pursued a Master of Laws - LLM in Public International Law at Queen Mary University of London. Prior to that, from 2017 to 2021, Matilde attended NOVA School of Law and obtained a Licentiate degree in Law. Matilde also completed a Foreign Law Course on the right to asylum, immigration, and nationality at the same institute. In 2014 and 2015, they participated in the Moot Court Public International Law program at NOVA School of Law.

Matilde Soares has also obtained certifications outside of their formal education. In 2023, they completed the Nvivo Core Skills course at Lumivero. In 2022, they earned certifications in Project Management for Development Professionals from PM4NGOs, as well as in Sample Size Estimation and Power Calculations and Critical Appraisal from UCL.

In 2021, Matilde completed the Business and Human Rights Global Virtual Internship at Clifford Chance. In 2020, they obtained a Certificate in Advanced English from the British Council.
