Mysiki Valentine

DC Region Program Manager at The Literacy Lab

Mysiki Valentine has a diverse work experience spanning various sectors and roles. They most recently worked as a DC Program Manager for The Literacy Lab starting in December 2021.

Prior to that, they served as the Executive Director of MANY LANGUAGES ONE VOICE (MLOV) from September 2020 to October 2021. In this role, Mysiki re-designed MLOV's organizational branding and policies and reinstated the Youth division, creating new programs and a summer institute for low-income, undocumented, and refugee students. They also led MLOV's development team in securing over $200,000 in funding.

From April 2019 to October 2020, Mysiki worked as an Advocacy Manager for the Fair Budget Coalition. They were responsible for implementing the organization's advocacy and policy strategy and overseeing community engagement. Mysiki also led think tank sessions with coalition partners to develop budget reports and advocacy efforts.

In 2019, Mysiki served as a Campaign Manager for Green for Ward 7. They managed the campaign operations from December 2019 to June 2020.

Before that, Mysiki worked as an Education and Outreach Consultant for Bridges, Inc. from July 2018 to November 2019. They developed and facilitated advocacy and educational training as part of Project M.O.V.

From September 2017 to October 2019, Mysiki worked for the DC Government as a Constituent Services Coordinator. They provided logistical support for councilmember events, organized community meetings, and offered administrative support to the Executive Leadership team and Constituent Services department.

Mysiki also has experience as a Teacher of English Language/Student Advisor for the Elizabeth Board of Education from September 2013 to June 2017. They developed community-specific curriculum, facilitated informational sessions, and coordinated school improvement plans.

Lastly, Mysiki worked as an Extended Learning & Culture Coordinator for DC Prep from September 2012 to July 2013. They educated stakeholders on preventing harassment and bullying, managed employee schedules and documentation, and developed activities to promote a positive school and community culture.

Mysiki Valentine holds a Bachelor of Arts - BA degree in English Language and Literature, General from Allen University. Additionally, Mysiki has pursued further education in Educational Leadership and Administration, General at Montclair State University from 2016 to 2018.
