Lead, Data Literacy Initiative at Defense Health Agency

Kelly Blasko has an extensive work history in various fields. Their most recent role was as the Lead of the Data Literacy Initiative at the Defense Health Agency, starting in July 2022. Prior to that, they were the Lead of the mHealth Clinical Integration and Connected Health Branch at the same agency from October 2019 to July 2022. Kelly also worked in the Mobile and Web Program at the Connected Health Branch from October 2017 to October 2019.

Before joining the Defense Health Agency, Kelly worked as a Counseling Psychologist at Madigan Army Medical Center, specializing in couples therapy. Kelly started in December 2016 and their tenure at the center is ongoing.

Prior to their work at the medical center, Kelly was the Lead of the Mobile Web Program at The National Center for Telehealth & Technology from October 2010 to October 2017. In this role, they managed the development and dissemination of two award-winning behavioral health programs for military children and their families.

Kelly has also held positions at the University of Michigan as a Post Doctoral Fellow from August 2008 to June 2009, at Penn State University as an Advisor in the College of Engineering from August 2004 to August 2008, at Penn State Counseling and Psychological Services as a Counseling Psychologist from August 2004 to August 2008, at Centre Volunteers in Medicine as a Practicum Psychologist from January 2006 to August 2006, at Wake Forest Baptist Health as a Marriage and Family Therapist Intern from July 2002 to August 2003, at Nortel Networks as a Senior Advisor in New Product Development from August 1986 to January 2001, and at BBN Communications Ltd as a Systems Engineer from May 1984 to April 1987.

Kelly's work experience spans multiple fields and demonstrates their expertise in behavioral health, project management, and the development of innovative health technologies.

Kelly Blasko holds a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Penn State University, which they completed between 2003 and 2008. Prior to that, they obtained an M.A. in Marriage and Family Therapy/Counseling from Appalachian State University from 2001 to 2003. Kelly also earned a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Boston University between 1979 and 1983. In addition, they have obtained several certifications in different fields, including Human-Computer Interaction for User Experience Design from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2019, Certificate in Positive Psychology from Zur Institute in 2017, and Certificate of Primary Care and Behavioral Health from UMass Medical School in 2014.
