Jono Wilson

Director Of Ocean Science at The Nature Conservancy

Jono Wilson has extensive work experience in the field of environmental science and management. Jono started their career in 2011 as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Bren School of Environmental Science & Management - University of California, Santa Barbara. Jono then worked as a Project Scientist at the same institution from April 2013 to August 2013.

In 2013, Jono joined The Nature Conservancy as a Project Director for Sustainable Fisheries, where they worked until September 2015. Jono was then promoted to the position of Senior Fishery Scientist, a role they held until September 2017. From October 2017 to August 2022, Jono served as the Lead Scientist at The Nature Conservancy. Most recently, in July 2022, they were appointed as the Director of Ocean Science at the same organization.

Alongside their work at The Nature Conservancy, Jono also served as an Adjunct Professor at the Bren School of Environmental Science & Management - University of California, Santa Barbara starting in January 2017.

Jono then pursued a Master of Science degree in Biology at California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo from 2004 to 2006. Later, they completed their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Environmental Science and Management at UC Santa Barbara from 2006 to 2011.
