Paul Carey has a comprehensive background in IT service management, starting as a Trainee Computer Operator at Telstra in 1986 and then moving on to roles such as Senior Computer Operator at Telstra, Senior Computer Operator at IBM Global Services, and various managerial positions at IBM Global Services, Vodafone, HP Enterprise Services, and Unisys. In 2017, they ventured into entrepreneurship as the Owner and Manager of All For Paws Pet Retreat, before taking on the role of Service Delivery Lead at Townsville Catholic Education Office in 2019.

Paul Carey completed their education at Hurlstone Agricultural High School from 1980 to 1985. Paul then pursued further educational opportunities in IT and Management, obtaining certifications such as ITIL Foundation v3 from Prometric in 2010, a Diploma in Management from IBM Education in 2010, and ITIL Foundations V4 from PeopleCert in 2019. Additionally, they have obtained various other certifications in IT and project management throughout the years, such as Agile Project Management in 2015 and PRINCE2® 2017 Foundation & Practitioner in 2020.
