Senior Frontend Engineer

Trace Genomics is seeking a Senior Frontend Engineer to add to our growing organization! We seek United States candidates living in the Central, Mountain or Pacific time zones. This is a remote opportunity and will work with a team that is fully remote.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain and update web-based and mobile products

• Work on software development in designing, building, and modifying existing code as per feature specifications

• Enhance and streamline user experience to be friendly, effective, and clear.

• Work with cross-functional teams (Product, Backend, R&D, and Science) to identify scope and requirements for requested features

• Write well-designed, testable (when possible), and efficient code by using best software development practices

• Create web UI layouts and interfaces that are cross-browser compatible

• Identify ways to improve efficiency, quality, and performance of our code

• Participate in code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes.

• Create and maintain software documentation as needed

• Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry best practices, incorporating them into the development process when applicable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Software Engineering. However, a bachelor’s in an applicable STEM field or equivalent will be considered.

• 7+ years working experience in web development

• 5+ years working experience with advanced concepts within the React framework, JavaScript, Node and AWS (highly preferred) or other cloud service providers

• 5+ years of experience with Python and Python web frameworks like Django or Flask

• 2+ years of experience with backend technologies, including docker or other containerized technologies

• Ability to diagnose performance and security concerns and enforce best practices

• Agile and test-driven development mindset

• Comfortable with git workflows, including feature branching and gitflow methodology

• Comfortable working independently to hunt down fixes

• Ability to communicate well in a multi-disciplinary team of scientists, engineers, and product managers
