Sebastian Margaret

Disability Project Fellow at Transgender Law Center

Sebastian Margaret is the current Disability Project Fellow at Transgender Law Center. Sebastian has over fifteen years of experience working in the disability rights and justice movement. Sebastian got their start in the movement working as a capacity builder and technical assistance consultant for the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force from January 2005 to November 2012. In this role, Sebastian provided disability rights and justice capacity building services for NGLTF's movement building department and technical assistance services for the establishment and implementation of access and accommodations at the NGLTF's annual conferences.

In September 2016, Sebastian began working as the Program Coordinator for Equality New Mexico's Disability Community Project (DCP). The DCP is a trans & gender non-conforming (TGNC), immigrant-led effort that seeks to break the isolation and address the marginalization of disabled/ill/sick community members. In this role, Sebastian works to locate, empower, and uplift disability vibrancy, brilliance and leadership within TGNC & LGBTQ communities. Sebastian is also committed to supporting the self-determination and personhood of all disabled folk irrespective of gender or sexuality identity.

Sebastian is also a part-time disability program coordinator and lead instructor for Resolve. In this role, Sebastian provides support and instruction to resolve disputes outside of the courtroom.

Sebastian Margaret graduated from Garforth Comprehensive School in 1982 with six O'levels. In 1984, they earned three A' levels in Sebastian'story, English Literature, and Sociology from the same school. Sebastian is currently employed as a teacher at Garforth Community College.

Sebastian Margaret works with Meera Vaidyanathan - Director of Development, Billy Chen - Director, Finance and Operations, and Xoai Pham - Digital Program Manager. Sebastian Margaret reports to Kris Hayashi, Executive Director.
