Prathima Radhakrishnan

Scientist, Bioimage Analysis at Transition Bio

Prathima Radhakrishnan has a diverse work experience. From 2022 to present, they have been working as a Scientist, Microscopy-based Cellular Assays at Transition Bio, Inc. From 2015 to 2022, they were a Graduate Student Researcher, Julie Theriot Lab at Stanford University. In this role, they performed infection assays, siRNA knockdowns, retroviral transduction, drug perturbations, endocytosis assays, time lapse and structured illumination microscopy to characterize Listeria monocytogenes cell-to-cell spread in an epithelial monolayer. Prathima also developed an image analysis pipeline to quantify bacterial growth rate over time with respect to location within a single bacterial focus. From 2014 to 2015, they were an Editorial Assistant at Serendipity Literary Agency, where they participated in the selection of books to represent and wrote cover letters to highlight the qualities of each book that made it timely, masterful, and a novel contribution to the market. Prathima also selected which editors to send each book proposal to and followed up with them until they made a decision on buying the book. Additionally, from 2014 to 2015, they were a Tutor for High School Students at Wyzant, providing additional support for high school students by tutoring them in chemistry and SAT prep. Finally, from 2012 to 2014, they were an Undergraduate Research Assistant, Robert Keenan Lab at the University of Chicago, where they designed, cloned, purified, and fluorescently labeled several mutants of their protein of interest, Get3. Prathima also performed ensemble and single molecule FRET experiments to show Get3 shifting between different conformational states.

Prathima Radhakrishnan began their education in 2008 when they graduated from West Windsor-Plainsboro High School North with a High School Diploma. From 2010 to 2014, they attended the University of Chicago, where they earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology, Biochemistry, English, and Creative Writing. Prathima is currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in Biophysics at Stanford University, which they are expected to complete in 2022.
