Juliana Cano Nieto

Juliana Cano Nieto has a diverse and extensive work experience in various organizations and roles. Juliana most recently worked as the Head of Communications at Transparency International since November 2021. Prior to that, they served as the Deputy Director of Campaigns at Amnesty International for six years, from March 2015 to November 2021. Juliana also worked at the International Monitoring Team as the International Coordinator-HRDC from November 2012 to January 2014, and as the Gender Coordinator at Unidad para las Víctimas from February 2012 to October 2012. In addition, Juliana Cano Nieto has held positions as the Protection Programmes Coordinator at Heartland Alliance International, Researcher at Human Rights Watch, Executive Director at FLIP-Fundación para la Libertad de Prensa, and Lawyer at Comisión Colombiana de Juristas.

Juliana Cano Nieto pursued their first degree in Law from Universidad de Los Andes, graduating with a Doctor of Law (JD) in 2002. Following this, in 2001, they enrolled in an Especialization program in Journalism at the same university and completed it in 2002. Later, in 2006, Juliana attended the University of Essex, where they obtained a Master of Laws (LLM) degree in International Human Rights Law.
