Michael Mayfield

Mike joined Triton Algae Innovations in June 2013 and has 8 years of process engineering and biological science experience. At Triton, Mike has worked with the strain development team to develop novel expression technologies to produce proteins under dark fermentation conditions. Mike was also a key contributor to developing purification procedure for Osteopontin expressed in C. reinhardtii to achieve >90% purity. In addition to his biological expertise, Mike has worked as a fermentation process engineer to further optimize production process in order to achieve greater industrial titers. Mike has also developed essential standard operating procedures to cut down on waste and to drastically improve the consistency of algal fermentation.

Mike received his BS degree in Biology from University of California Santa Cruz in 2013.
