Michael Larkin

Director, Hardware Engineering at True Digital Surgery

In February 2020, Larkin joined True Digital Surgery as Senior Director of Hardware Engineering to direct new product development.

He received his Bachelor of Science in Physics from the University of Texas at Austin and his Ph.D. from Columbia University, where he studied superconductors and quantum spin systems. In 2001, Michael joined Wyatt Technology as a lead analytical instrument developer, serving the pharmaceutical and biotechnology markets.

Products he developed are now used in most major pharmaceutical companies and range from first-and-only technologies to laboratory workhorses. Those products incorporate robotic motion control, custom cameras, machine vision, coherent and incoherent light sources, imaging and non-imaging optical systems, and spectrometers. After 12 years as an instrument development lead, Michael spent six years as the Director of Hardware Engineering at Wyatt, directing all new product development. In this role, he oversaw the development and launch of more than ten new analytical instruments.
