Bandjougou Magassa is the Director of the UNICEF Division of Human Resources based in New York.
Mr. Magassa has spearheaded numerous workplace culture and transformational leadership initiatives during his career at UNICEF. In his current role, Mr. Magassa provides overall leadership for UNICEF’s human resources function. He is responsible for establishing and implementing an overall human resources vision, strategy and action plan, enabling UNICEF people to deliver results and meet the organization’s commitments to children.
Previously, Mr. Magassa served as Regional Chief of Human Resources with the UNICEF Regional Office for West and Central Africa; Chief of Human Resources Services with UNICEF India; Chief Human Resources Officer with the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA); Head of the UNICEF Global Services Center (precursor to UNICEF Global Shared Service Center); and HR Manager in a series of roles with UNICEF in Somalia, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and China. Mr. Magassa began his UNICEF career in 1998 with the Regional Office for West and Central Africa then based in Côte d'Ivoire.
Before joining UNICEF, Mr. Magassa led the UNHCR/Caritas Programme, which provided humanitarian assistance to over 550,000 Liberian refugees in Côte d'Ivoire, from 1991 to 1998.
Mr. Magassa is a national of Côte d'Ivoire. He holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Caen, Basse Normandie, France.
