Human Rights Officer - Anti Racial Discrimination Advisor For South America at United Nations Human Rights

Bia Albernaz is a seasoned professional in human rights and humanitarian action, currently serving as a Human Rights Officer at the United Nations Human Rights since January 2021. Previously, Bia held the position of Programme Specialist at UN Women, co-leading national GBV sub-cluster initiatives, advocating for the protection of women human rights defenders, and addressing gender equality in response to COVID-19. Bia's extensive experience includes roles as an Associate Human Rights Officer with MONUSCO, Field Officer with the United Nations in Colombia, and positions at UNICEF, UNHCR, Nonviolent Peaceforce, UN-HABITAT, and the United Nations Department of Field Support. Bia holds a Master's degree from Uppsala University and a Bachelor's degree in International Relations from Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro, complemented by a certificate in European Studies from the University of Strasbourg.
