Andy Luther

Head of Engineering at UpSmith

Andy Luther has extensive work experience in various engineering and software development roles. Starting in 2005, they worked as a Software Engineer at Alion Science and Technology, where they developed 3-D flight simulation software. From 2008 to 2011, they served as an Industrial Engineer at Northrop Grumman Corporation, designing and implementing a labor capacity planning application.

In 2011, Andy joined Amazon Robotics as a Simulation Developer, where they developed a discrete-event simulation platform for evaluating algorithms for fulfillment robots. Andy also led the development of a 3D animation system for visualizing simulation experiments.

From 2015 to 2017, Andy worked at Catalant Technologies as a Senior Software Engineer and later as a Principal Software Engineer. Andy was responsible for leading the data science team and deploying machine learning algorithms to enhance supply and demand matching.

In 2017, Andy joined Indigo as a Lead Data Science Engineer, where they focused on improving farmer profitability through data-driven software services and API products. Andy later became the Director of Software Engineering, building the Data Science Engineering and BI Platform teams. Andy led the development of software applications and a centralized platform to support data-driven decision-making.

Currently, Andy is the Head of Engineering at UpSmith, a position they assumed in 2022.

Andy Luther obtained their Bachelor of Industrial & Systems Engineering from Auburn University in 2008. Andy then pursued further education and completed their Master of Industrial & Systems Engineering from Auburn University in 2010. In addition to their degrees, Andy Luther also holds a certification as a Certified Scrum Master from the Scrum Alliance.
