Ben Silverman

Ben Silverman is the Chief Technology Officer and Cofounder of Upward Farms. Ben leads multidisciplinary technology teams across biology, software, electro-mechanical design; and across stages from skunkworks R&D to construction and commissioning. Ben leverages his Renaissance team to innovate and execute upon the Upward Farms vision.

Ben brings over 15 years leadership developing high performance building and mechanical systems by integrating architecture, engineering, and advanced manufacturing. Previous to Upward Farms, Ben worked on all sides of the design-build table, most notably integrating design and engineering work to deliver innovative solutions for the building envelopes of the SFMOMA expansion, South Street Seaport’s Pier 17 in NYC, and the National Museum of African American History and Culture (NMAAHC) in Washington, D.C. among others.

A recovering architect, Ben unleashes his creative energies by carving abstract stone sculptures from marble and alabaster.

Ben received a BA in Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania and a M.Eng in Product Architecture Engineering from the Stevens Institute of Technology.
