Benjamin Ratner

Benjamin Ratner is an accomplished urban planner with a focus on land use, policy, and community development. Currently serving as the Director of Land Use, Policy & Budget for Council Member Pierina Sanchez at the New York City Council, Benjamin previously held the position of Associate at James Lima Planning + Development, where responsibilities included coordinating the Gowanus Oversight Task Force and managing a significant investment in public infrastructure. As a Graduate Assistant at Pratt Institute, Benjamin redesigned urban planning curricula, while previous roles in community development at BrilliantDetroit and research consulting showcased skills in grant writing and stakeholder engagement. Benjamin's educational background includes a Master of Science in Urban Placemaking and Management from Pratt Institute and a Bachelor of Arts in Government and Legal Studies from Bowdoin College.
