Michael James

Michael James has a strong background in human resources and talent development. Michael started their career at UT Southwestern Medical Center as an Assistant Vice President in 2008 and held that role until 2015. Michael then moved to UT Rio Grande Valley, where they served as the Chief Human Resources Officer from 2015 until 2023. Most recently, they joined The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley as the Vice President for Human Resources and Talent Development in October 2023.

Michael James earned a Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A) degree in Human Resources Management/Personnel Administration from The University of Alabama in 1989. Michael later pursued a Master of Science in Management and Administrative Sciences with a focus on Healthcare Organization Leadership from The University of Texas at Dallas, completing it in 2012.
