Marcus Quek

Marcus Quek has a diverse range of work experience. Marcus currently holds the position of Head of Strategic Partnerships & Growth at Validus, Singapore's largest SME financing platform/neobank. In this role, they utilize strategic partnerships, embedded finance, and data analytics to provide growth financing to underserved SMEs in the region. Additionally, Marcus has experience as the Head of Acquisition - Neobank at Validus, where they built the digital banking/neobank arm from scratch and oversaw the successful launch of the product.

Marcus is also involved in various leadership roles outside of Validus. Marcus serves as the Chairman of the Growth Chapter for SGDCC Foundation, where they contribute to the development of Singapore's digital commerce sector. Marcus is also a part of the BNI Star Chapter Leadership Team at BNI Singapore, where they exercise leadership skills.

Prior to their tenure at Validus, Marcus worked at OCBC Bank, where they held multiple roles including Team Lead - Healthcare Vertical, eBusiness, Fintech & Ecosystems Senior Manager, and Senior Business Development Manager. These positions allowed him to pioneer new initiatives, such as the Medipreneur proposition, and drive revenue growth for the bank.

Earlier in their career, Marcus gained experience as a Financial Analyst (FP&A) at Changi General Hospital, where they were responsible for financial analysis and costing.

Marcus Quek also has a passion for coaching and leadership. Marcus served as the Head Coach for Ultimate Frisbee at Hwa Chong Junior College, where they coached students, nurtured sport leaders, and fostered communication between teachers, parents, and students.

Marcus Quek has a Bachelor of Business degree in Economics and Finance from RMIT University, which they obtained from 2012 to 2015. Prior to that, they completed their GCE A levels and Integrated Programme at Hwa Chong Institution from 2004 to 2009. Marcus is currently pursuing a degree in Organizational Leadership at Harvard Business School, starting in 2023. Additionally, Marcus has obtained several certifications, including Design Thinking, Strategic Partnerships, IBF Qualified, Basic Insurance Concepts & Principles, and Personal General Insurance.
