Senior Research Associate - Mental Health Research Lead at VHA Home HealthCare

Sonia Nizzer, MSW RSW, has a diverse work experience in the field of social work. Sonia began their career at VHA Home HealthCare in 2010 as a Service Supervisor, where they coordinated home visiting programs for low-income populations. Sonia'sresponsibilities included providing case management, completing assessments, and supervising staff and student placements. From 2016 to 2019, Sonia worked as a Research Associate at VHA Home HealthCare, focusing on mental health research. Sonia then transitioned to the role of Clinical Research Coordinator II, where they continued their involvement in research until November 2022. Currently, Sonia holds the position of Senior Research Associate - Mental Health Research Lead at VHA Home HealthCare. In addition to their work at VHA, Sonia spent a brief period in 2015 as a Graduate Student at the Child Welfare Institute of the Children's Aid Society of Toronto. Prior to this, they worked as a Counselor at Crossroads of Michigan from 2009 to 2010.

Sonia Nizzer has a diverse education history in the field of social work. Sonia holds a Certificate in Mixed Methods Research from the Michigan State University School of Social Work, which they obtained in 2022. Prior to that, they completed a Master's Degree in Social Work (M.S.W) at the University of Windsor. Sonia also earned a Bachelor's Degree (B.S.W [H]) from the same institution, with a combined focus on Social Work and Women's Studies.

Sonia has participated in a Community Development Intensive program conducted by ICA Associates Inc. Furthermore, they have acquired expertise in Program Evaluation for Non-Profit Organizations through a training organized by the Children's Aid Society of Toronto. Additionally, they have completed a course on Protection and Custody Investigations for High Conflict Cases, also provided by the Ontario Association of Children's Aid Societies. Lastly, Sonia has attended a U-First Dementia training conducted by the Alzheimer Society of Toronto.
