Jon Wagner

Jon Wagner is currently the CTO at Vivid Seats. Prior to that, they were with Zoomer from March 2015 to February 2017, where they served as Chief Operations Officer and Head of Decision Engineering.

Zoomer was a real-time delivery logistics provider for high-volume restaurants. As head of Decision Engineering, Wagner assembled a team of operations research experts, data scientists, systems engineers, and software engineers to tackle the real-time, hot-food delivery problem. This began with educating leadership on the benefits of simulation and optimization to create efficiencies in the logistics world, and then directly working with the team to deliver fully automated delivery dispatch technology that improved delivery speed by 20% and variability by 30%. They also established a Data Engineering and Data Science team to build forecasting and business intelligence capabilities for the company.

As Chief Operations Officer, Wagner oversaw 24x7 field operations in all of their cities. Using the data science and business intelligence infrastructure, they were able to use engineering rigor to transform startup operations into a more disciplined process, significantly improving the predictability and efficiency of delivery operations. When Zoomer was acquired by GrubHub, their technology staff and Decision Engineering team became the group responsible for operational efficiency and delivery optimization within the larger organization.
