Stefania Alborghetti

Stefania Alborghetti has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning over two decades.

Stefania currently holds the position of Staff Software Developer at Waabi, starting in 2022.

Prior to this, Stefania worked at DataStax from 2015 to 2022, where they held the position of Staff Software Engineer. In this role, they were responsible for multiple projects, including being the lead engineer for AstraDB, a cloud-native serverless implementation of Apache Cassandra. Stefania also co-authored the Unified Compaction Strategy, a new compaction strategy for LSM data stores. In addition, they were a senior developer for DataStax Enterprise (DSE), contributing to the Thread-per-Core architecture and leading performance optimizations for both IO and network. Stefania was also an active participant in the Apache Cassandra community, serving as a committer and member of the Project Management Committee (PMC).

From 2010 to 2015, Stefania worked at BNP Paribas as a Senior Software Developer. Stefania'sresponsibilities included developing and maintaining a low-latency trading platform using C++, Java, and Oracle. Stefania implemented real-time market data feeds in Java, optimized memory and garbage collection for the trading front-end, and re-engineered C++ servers for improved performance and scalability.

Before that, from 2008 to 2010, they worked at WebSupergoo as a Senior Software Developer, focusing on graphics development using .NET software components in C# and native C++. Stefania also held the position of Analyst Developer at Goldman Sachs in Hong Kong from 2007 to 2008, where they played a key role in porting the middle office C++ trading platform for equities from Solaris to Linux.

Prior to their work at Goldman Sachs, they worked as a Senior Software Engineer at Openwave in Hong Kong from 2006 to 2007, primarily focused on mobile phone browser development. Stefania also worked as a Senior Software Engineer at Atelier in Paris, France from 2004 to 2006, and as a Senior Software Developer at Arcadia Design in Cagliari, Italy from 2003 to 2004.

Stefania began their career at Symbian in Cambridge, UK, where they served as a Tech Lead from 2000 to 2003.

Throughout their career, Stefania has worked with various technologies and languages, including C++, Java, Python, C#, and various frameworks and tools such as Apache Cassandra, Kubernetes, and Git.

Stefania Alborghetti holds a Master's degree and Bachelor's degree in Physics from Università degli Studi di Milano. Stefania has obtained various certifications in different areas, including Genomic data science from Coursera in August 2021, Physical Basics of Quantum Computing from Coursera in August 2021, C++: Advanced Topics from LinkedIn in July 2021, and Deep Learning Nanodegree Program from Udacity in February 2021. Stefania also obtained certifications in Statistics for Genomic Data Science, Algorithms for DNA Sequencing, Python for Genomic Data Science, Principles of reactive programming in Scala, Algorithms: Design and Analysis, Part 2, Computing for Data Analysis, Startup Engineering, Functional Programming Principles in Scala, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, and Artificial Intelligence for Robotics. The years of obtaining these certifications range from 2012 to 2021.
