Alexa Amster

Alexa Amster has a diverse range of work experience. Alexa began their professional journey at the Newseum, where they were a member of the Student Advisory Team from November 2012 to April 2014. During this time, they worked with other students in the D.C. area to provide input and feedback to the organization.

In 2012, Alexa also started working as a Leadership Intern at Camp Invention Inc. This role involved supervising and mentoring elementary school-aged children during a five-day interactive science camp.

From 2015 to 2018, Alexa worked at Group Therapy Associates as a Community Outreach and Local Marketing Intern. In this position, they utilized various platforms such as social media, email marketing, and website management to promote the therapy practice and its CEO.

Alexa also gained experience at Gallaudet University as a Writer in University Communications and Public Relations in 2016. Alexa wrote articles for various university publications and collaborated with a senior editor on editorial standards.

In 2015, Alexa joined Virginia Tech as a Communication and Social Media Intern, working with the Alumni Association and then becoming a Resident Advisor at East Ambler Johnston Hall. Alexa served as a peer leader, completed administrative tasks, and encouraged resident interactions.

Most recently, Alexa has been employed at Weber Shandwick since 2018. Alexa started as a Consumer Intern and progressed to roles such as Junior Associate, Associate, and Senior Associate in Client Experience. As of May 2022, they hold the position of Manager, Client Experience at the company.

Alexa Amster attended South Lakes High School from 2010 to 2014. Alexa then pursued their Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Relations/Image Management and French from Virginia Tech between 2014 and 2018. In April 2018, they obtained a Certificate in Principles of Public Relations from the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA). Additionally, in August 2016, they became a Hootsuite Certified Professional through Hootsuite Media Inc.
