Sophia Schiappa

Sophia Schiappa's work experience includes various roles in the aviation industry and related organizations. Sophia has served as a Peer Advisor at Bridgewater State University, where they assisted undergraduate students with course selection and provided guidance on extracurricular activities. Additionally, Sophia has held multiple positions within the Women in Aviation International organization, including Chapter President, Membership Coordinator, Social Media Chair, and Outreach Coordinator.

In terms of internships, Sophia worked as an Airport Operations Specialist at the Massachusetts Port Authority, where they shadowed various positions in the aviation operations department and participated in projects such as creating SOPs for the communications center and organizing a STEM expo.

Furthermore, Sophia has gained experience at Cape Air, where they worked as a Ground Security Coordinator, Ramp Trainer, Station Supervisor, and Station Operations Coordinator. Sophia 'sresponsibilities in these roles included ensuring safety and security protocols, training new ramp agents, supervising daily shifts, and coordinating ramp operations.

Sophia's early work experience includes being a Summer Camp Counselor at the Town of Marion Recreation and a Barista at Uncle Jon's Coffee.

Sophia Schiappa began their education in 2015 at Old Rochester Regional School, where they obtained their High School Diploma in 2019. In 2019, they also attended UMass Boston and received a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Physics. Sophia then pursued their passion for aviation, enrolling at Bridgewater State University from 2020 to 2023. During this time, they earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Aviation/Airway Management and Operations. In 2023, Sophia briefly attended Hellenic American University for further studies in the same field. Additionally, Sophia obtained certification as a Student Pilot from the Federal Aviation Administration in September 2020.
