Rick Murray

Rick Murray is a Senior Scientist emeritus in Marine Chemistry & Geochemistry at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, a position held since September 2019. Previously, Rick served as the Deputy Director and Vice President for Science & Engineering at the same institution and held multiple roles at Boston University from September 1992 to June 2019, including Professor, Director of the BU Marine Program, and Chair of the Department of Earth Sciences. Additionally, Rick acted as the Director of the Division of Ocean Sciences at the National Science Foundation from January 2015 to June 2018. Academic credentials include a Ph.D. in Geology & Geophysics from UC-Berkeley (1991), a BA in Geology from Hamilton College (1985), and a degree in Oceanography from the Sea Education Association (1983).
