Rene Alcalde

Rene Alcalde, Ph.D. has extensive work experience in geomechanics and reservoir engineering. Rene is currently the Geomechanics Lead - International Operations at Woodside Energy. Prior to this, they worked as a Geomechanics SME - Consultant at ORA Group LLC. Rene also held various positions at BHP, including Reservoir Geomechanics SME - Principal II and Reservoir Geomechanics Specialist. In addition, they worked as a Reservoir Geomechanics Specialist at Chevron and as a Senior Reservoir Engineer at Gaffney, Cline & Associates. Earlier in their career, they were a Geomechanics Consultant Senior I at GeoMechanics International and a Geoscientist Senior I and MWD Specialist II/Drilling Engineer at Baker Hughes. Rene began their career as a Research Assistant at the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology.

Rene Alcalde, Ph.D. has a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Petroleum Engineering from the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology. Prior to obtaining their Ph.D., they also earned a Master's degree in Petroleum Engineering from the same institution. Rene Alcalde, Ph.D. began their educational journey by earning a Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia.
