Yucong L. has a strong background in robotics and automated driving. Their most recent role is as a Senior Research Scientist at Woven by Toyota, where they are focused on improving the performance of the SLAM pipeline for the Automated Mapping Platform. Prior to this, they worked at Toyota Research Institute as a Senior Research Scientist, specifically on the SLAM part of the Automated Mapping Platform. Before joining Toyota, Yucong L. was a Senior Robotics Engineer at QCraft, where they played a key role in creating the company's base map mapping pipeline. They also worked as an Automated Driving Engineer at Ford Motor Company, where they developed an acceleration estimation method for tracked vehicles. Yucong L. began their career as a Graduate Research Assistant at Arizona State University, where they worked on motion planning for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles. They also had an internship at SRI International, where they developed GUI tools, calibration tools, and achieved high accuracy in camera calibration.

Yucong L. obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Astrophysics from the University of Science and Technology of China, which they attended from 2005 to 2009. Yucong then pursued a Ph.D. in Exploration System Design with a concentration in Robotics at Arizona State University from 2010 to 2015. In addition to their formal education, Yucong also obtained a certification in Algorithms: Design and Analysis, Part 1 from Coursera in December 2014.
