Jonathan Leitschuh

Senior Software Security Researcher at Yocto Project

Jonathan Leitschuh has a diverse work experience in the technology industry. Jonathan currently works as a Senior Software Security Researcher at The Linux Foundation since 2023. Prior to this, they were an OSS Security Researcher at HUMAN from 2022 onwards. In this role, they were awarded the first-ever Dan Kaminsky Fellowship and conducted Open Source Security research at scale. Jonathan used various tools like GitHub's CodeQL, Code Search, and SourceGraph, and also utilized the OpenRewrite format preserving AST transformer to fix security vulnerabilities.

Before joining HUMAN, Jonathan worked as a Senior Security Software Engineer at Gradle Inc. from 2019 to 2022, where they were a member of the Gradle Security Team. Jonathan focused on protecting Gradle Inc and the Java Ecosystem supply chain.

Prior to Gradle Inc., Jonathan was a Software Engineer at Hewlett Packard Enterprise in 2018 and at Plexxi Inc. from 2016 to 2018. At Plexxi Inc., they worked on upgrading an existing Java Spring Application and contributed to the Gradle Kotlin DSL project.

Jonathan also gained experience as a Web Developer College Intern at Kronos from 2015 to 2016. There, they became a maintainer for http://ui-grid.info/ and implemented accessibility support for screen readers. Jonathan also ported Kronos' web grid to UI Grid.

In the earlier stages of their career, Jonathan worked as an ECE Department Student System Administrator at Worcester Polytechnic Institute from 2012 to 2014 and as a Chemistry Lab Intern at Dartmouth College in 2011.

Overall, Jonathan Leitschuh has a strong background in software security, open-source research, and software engineering, contributing to various organizations and projects in the technology industry.

Jonathan Leitschuh completed their education at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Robotic Engineering & Computer Science from 2012 to 2016. Before that, they attended Thetford Academy, completing their high school diploma between 2006 and 2012. Additionally, they have obtained certifications in various coding courses, including Rails for Zombies 2, Rails for Zombies Redux, and Try Ruby, from Code School.
