Ben Smith

Ben Smith has a diverse range of work experience in various companies and roles. Ben started their career as a Lead Developer at Visa Europe, where they worked on greenfield and proof of concept projects. Ben then worked as a Developer and Technical Lead at Capita IT Professional Services, contributing to a high-profile national program. Ben later joined Cornerstone (CTIL) as a Senior Developer, where they designed and developed an Asset Capture System. Ben also worked as a Lead JavaScript Developer at Cambridge Assessment, developing Single Page Applications. Ben then moved to Bluestone Group as an Application Developer, specializing in JavaScript, and contributed to an Open Banking initiative. Ben's experience also includes working as a Senior Engineer at the Financial Times, Gamesys, and Zoopla. Currently, they are working as a Consultant Software Engineer at 101 Ways, providing consultancy services to clients. In addition, Ben has held roles as a Senior Engineer and Lead Engineer at Abcam, where they have worked on various teams and projects.

Ben Smith obtained their Master of Science (MSc) degree in Information Technology from De Montfort University in the year 2000. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Physics with Space Science and Technology from the University of Leicester between 1996 and 1999. Before attending university, Ben studied Computing, Physics, and Mathematics at Afan College, Margam, where they earned their A-Level certification from 1994 to 1996.

In addition to their formal education, Ben has obtained various certifications. In 2016, they received certifications from Microsoft, including MCSD: App Builder and Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA): Web Applications. In 2015, they achieved the Microsoft Certified Solution Developer (MCSD): Web Applications certification. Ben also holds the Microsoft Certified Professional (MCPS) certification, which they obtained in 2014, and the Microsoft Specialist (MS): Programming in HTML5 with JavaScript and CSS3 certification, which they received in the same year. Prior to their Microsoft certifications, Ben obtained the Certified Scrum Developer certification from Scrum Alliance in 2013, along with the Certified ScrumMaster certification from the same institution in the same year.
