Genie Cortez

Deputy Director, Donor & Brand Activation at ACLU

Genie Cortez has extensive experience in nonprofit development and donor communications, currently serving as Deputy Director of Donor & Brand Activation at the ACLU since November 2002. Previous roles at the ACLU include Deputy Director of Donor Communications and Director of Development for the LGBT & AIDS Project. Before joining the ACLU, Genie Cortez worked at Changing Our World, Inc. as Senior Director of the Fundraising Division and Director of the Fundraising Division. Additional experience includes a position as Development Associate for Major Gifts at New York Presbyterian Hospital and roles at SCIENS Worldwide Public Relations as Assistant Account Executive and Account Coordinator. Genie Cortez holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Comparative Literature from Cornell University and a Master of Arts degree in Comparative Literary Studies from Carleton University.
