Thomas Hassing

Thomas Hassing has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of intellectual property and law. Thomas is currently the Vice President of Intellectual Property at Bloom Energy, a company focused on transforming energy generation and delivery. Prior to this, Thomas held various leadership roles at the California Lawyers Association, including Secretary of the Business Law Section and Chair of the Intellectual Property Law Section. Thomas also served on the Executive Committee of the State Bar of California and held positions such as Vice Chair and Secretary of the Intellectual Property Law Section. Thomas has experience in IP strategy and licensing from their time at Immersion Corporation. Thomas has also worked as the Director of IP Law at GLOBALFOUNDRIES and as a Patent Attorney at Blakely Sokoloff Taylor & Zafman. Thomas's international experience includes roles as Director Global IP India at SAP Labs India Pvt. Ltd. and Senior IP Counsel at SAP in Germany. Thomas started their career as the Director of Patent Counsel at Guidant Corporation.

Thomas Hassing earned a Juris Doctor degree in Law with a specialization in Intellectual Property from the Mitchell Hamline School of Law from 1993 to 1997. Prior to their legal studies, they pursued a Bachelor of Computer Science degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of Minnesota, completing it from 1980 to 1985. Thomas also attended St. Thomas Academy from 1975 to 1980, although no degree or field of study is specified for this period.
