Title: Area Manager, North

Location: Calgary, Fort St. John, Grande Prairie

Job Accountabilities

Lead, Manage, Accountable (15% Allocation)

Lead

· Team Leadership: Inspire, motivate, and lead a team of professionals, ensuring a collaborative and high-performance work environment.

· Safety Leadership: Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with all safety regulations and procedures.

· Change Management: Lead and manage change within the organization, ensuring smooth transitions and minimal disruption.

Manage

· Resource Management: Oversee the allocation and efficient use of resources, including personnel, equipment, and budget.

· Performance Management: Conduct regular performance reviews, set clear objectives, and provide constructive feedback to team members.

· Compliance: Ensure all operations comply with industry standards, legal regulations, and company policies.

Accountable

· Financial Accountability: Manage the budget for the area, ensuring cost control and profitability.

· Reporting: Provide regular updates and reports to senior management on the performance, challenges, and progress of the area.

· Decision-Making: Make informed decisions that align with the company's goals and objectives, and take responsibility for the outcomes.

Project Management (50% Allocation) 

Planning and Execution

· Project Planning: Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, milestones, and resource allocation.

· Execution: Oversee the execution of projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.

· Risk Management: Identify potential risks and implement mitigation strategies to minimize impact on project timelines and outcomes.

Quality Control

· Quality Assurance: Ensure all projects meet quality standards and client specifications.

· Continuous Improvement: Implement and promote continuous improvement practices to enhance project delivery and performance.

Coordination and Communication

· Stakeholder Coordination: Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.

· Progress Reporting: Provide regular progress reports to clients and senior management, highlighting achievements and addressing any issues.

Client Management (10% Allocation)

Relationship Building

· Client Relationships: Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, ensuring their needs and expectations are met (Area Based)

· Client Communication: Maintain regular communication with clients, providing updates and addressing any concerns promptly.

Service Delivery

· Client Satisfaction: Ensure high levels of client satisfaction by delivering projects and services that meet or exceed expectations.

· Problem Resolution: Address and resolve any client issues or complaints in a timely and effective manner.

Account Growth

· Upselling and Cross-Selling: Identify opportunities to expand services within existing client accounts.

· Client Retention: Implement strategies to retain clients and secure long-term business relationships.

Office Management (20% Allocation)

Administrative Oversight

· Office Operations: Oversee the daily operations of the offices, ensuring a productive and efficient work environment.

· Facilities Management: Ensure the office facilities are well-maintained and meet the needs of staff and clients appropriately.

HR Management

· Recruitment: Liaise with Team Services in the recruitment and onboarding processes of new staff members.

· Employee Development: Promote continuous professional development and training opportunities for staff.

Compliance

· Policy Implementation: Ensure company policies and procedures are effectively implemented and followed in the office.

· Health and Safety: Maintain a safe and healthy work environment, complying with all health and safety regulations.

Business Development and Marketing (5% Allocation)

Market Expansion

· Business Development: Identify and pursue new business opportunities to expand the company's market presence.

· Partnerships: Develop strategic partnerships and alliances to enhance business growth.

Networking

· Industry Events: Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and trade shows to build brand awareness and establish industry connections (Area Based)

· Professional Networks: Build and maintain a strong network of industry contacts and influencers.

Candidate Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience working in Surface Land as a Land Agent or Project Manager

  • Experience coordinating projects and managing a team of Land Agents and Analysts

  • Knowledge of all activities and processes related to the acquisition process of surface land projects in Alberta (British Columbia would be considered an asset)

  • Permanent Alberta Land Agent License would be considered an asset

  • Exceptional organization and highly detail oriented individual

  • Strong reputation and eager industry involvement

  • Efficient problem-solving skills

  • Proactive, action oriented individual

  • Business acumen

  • Must have experience or training in the use of spreadsheets, word processing and other standard computer applications (proficiency with Microsoft Office is an asset).

  • No Oil and Gas or Energy Sector experience required, however a strong background in managing people, offices and culture valued

Must have capability to travel between our Fort St John and Grande Prairie offices as needed and at a minimum be in those offices 2 weeks a month.
