Chidinma Ume

Chidinma Ume's work experience begins in 2009 when they served as a Judicial Intern for the United States District Court for the District of Columbia. Chidinma then joined the National Bar Association as a Member in 2009. In 2010, they worked as a Certified Law Clerk at the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office before becoming a Student Attorney at the Georgetown Law Criminal Defense and Prisoner Advocacy Clinic. From 2011 to 2015, Chidinma worked as an Assistant District Attorney at the New York County District Attorney's Office, overseeing felony and misdemeanor cases. In 2016, they became a 2016 Leadership Institute Fellow at the Council of Urban Professionals, completing a one-year leadership development program. Chidinma then joined the NYC Mayor's Office of Criminal Justice as an Associate Counsel for Justice Initiatives and later as Executive Director of Justice Operations. In 2018, Chidinma co-founded the Law Clinic Partnership Mentorship Program and served as an Adjunct Professor at Pepperdine University School of Law. Chidinma is currently working at the Center for Justice Innovation, where they have held various roles including Deputy Director of Policy, Senior Advisor for West Coast Initiatives, Director of Policy, and Director of West Coast Initiatives.

Chidinma Ume holds a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree in Law from Georgetown University Law Center. Chidinma also earned a Bachelor's Degree in Rhetoric from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Minor in Spanish Language from Carlos III University of Madrid. Additionally, they have obtained certifications in Diversity and Inclusion from Cornell University and Project Management from Coursera. Chidinma Ume is a licensed attorney with the New York State Bar Association, the State Bar of California, and the Supreme Court of the U.S.
