Craig Kapfer

Senior Director, Scientific Computing at Chan Zuckerberg Biohub

Craig Kapfer has a diverse work experience in scientific computing and computational science. Craig currently holds the position of Senior Director, Scientific Computing at Chan Zuckerberg Biohub since December 2021. Prior to that, they worked at GSK as Director, Scientific Computing from June 2019 to December 2021 and as Senior Manager, Research Computing & Analytics from November 2017 to May 2019. Craig also held various roles at KAUST, including Lead Computational Scientist from July 2017 to October 2017, Senior Computational Scientist from March 2014 to June 2017, Research Applications Lead from December 2011 to May 2014, and Research Applications Specialist from July 2010 to December 2011. Craig also gained experience as a Consultant/Software Engineer at Bloomberg from 2009 to 2010 and as a Computational Scientist at Vitamin D, Inc in 2009. Craig started their career as a Principal Software Engineer at Advertising.com from 2008 to 2009. Prior to that, they worked as a Computational Scientist at LLNL from 1999 to 2008, where they conducted research in scientific computing and developed algorithms in C++/C/Python for various domains.

Craig Kapfer holds a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Mathematics from Indiana University Bloomington, as well as a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Computer Science from the same institution. Craig also earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Mathematics with honors from the University of Iowa.
