James Hitchin, FRSC has a diverse and impressive work experience in the field of chemistry. James has held various senior leadership positions in different companies, demonstrating their expertise and ability to drive business growth.

James started their career at Roche Pharmaceuticals as an industrial trainee, where they gained hands-on experience in synthesis and contributed to the development of new compounds. James then joined SAFC as a Senior Research Chemist and later became a Chemistry Team Leader at Pfizer Pharmaceuticals, where they provided synthetic expertise and managed a team of chemists.

In 2007, James worked as a Chemistry Team Leader for CABB BU custom manufacturing, overseeing the successful scale-up and implementation of a tonne-scale manufacturing process for an active pharmaceutical ingredient.

James later joined SAFC again, this time as a Chemistry Team Leader, where they developed laboratory and pilot plant GMP manufacturing processes for APIs. During their time at SAFC, James successfully developed and delivered several GMP lab/pilot plant-scale manufacturing processes.

In 2011, they joined Edanz Group Ltd as a Freelance Editor, where they edited scientific manuscripts and assisted in the preparation of presentations for renowned figures in synthetic chemistry.

James Hitchin's most recent roles include Director of Medicinal Chemistry at Charnwood Discovery, Senior Director of Medicinal Chemistry, and currently, they serve as the Vice President of Chemistry. In these roles, they have demonstrated strategic leadership, generated significant revenue, and overseen the growth and development of teams and service lines.

James Hitchin, FRSC completed the Oxford Strategic Leadership Program at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford in 2022. Prior to that, they earned a PhD in Synthetic Chemistry from the University of Liverpool from 2001 to 2004. James also holds a Master of Chemistry degree in Chemistry with industrial experience from The University of Sheffield, which they obtained between 1997 and 2001.
