Andre Isakov

Director Of Parks, Recreation & Culture Planning at City of Burnaby

Andre Isakov has extensive experience in municipal and community development roles. Andre is currently the Director of Parks, Recreation & Culture Planning at the City of Burnaby since May 2023. Prior to this, they held various managerial positions at the City of Coquitlam from 2013 to 2023, including Manager of Economic Development and Manager of Park Planning & Design. Andre also served as the Director of Planning and Development at the District of Sechelt in 2016 and as Manager of Planning and Community Services at the Village of Harrison Hot Springs from 2010 to 2013. In addition, they have worked as the Executive Director of the Business Improvement Areas of BC from 2008 to 2010. Throughout their career, Andre has demonstrated expertise in strategic planning, policy development, community engagement, and land use management.

Andre Isakov completed their education at Simon Fraser University. Andre obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Communication with a focus on Dialogue and Civic Engagement in 2007. In the same year, they also earned a Certificate in Labour Studies from the same institution. Andre continued their studies at Simon Fraser University and completed a Master's degree in Urban Studies (M.Urb.) in 2009.

In terms of additional certifications, Andre is a Member of the British Columbia Society of Landscape Architects (BCSLA), the Canadian Institute of Planners (MCIP), and the Canadian Society of Landscape Architects (CSLA). Andre is also a Registered Professional Planner (RPP), certified by the Planning Institute of British Columbia (PIBC). Andre has also attended the School for Statutory Approving Officers, which was conducted by the Municipal Administration Training Institute (MATI) - Local Government Management Association of British Columbia.
