Heather McCowen

Heather McCowen, Ph.D., is an accomplished college consultant currently working at College Inside Track since September 2021, where a passion for guiding students and families through the college search process is evident. With extensive experience in education and the arts, Heather has held various significant roles, including Director of Programs at the ChiArts Foundation and Principal at HM College Consulting. Prior positions include Head of Engagement and Alumni Relations and Post Secondary Adviser at The Chicago High School for the Arts, Assistant Dean at Roosevelt University, and Associate Dean at Longy School of Music. Heather's educational background includes a Bachelor and Master's in Bassoon Performance from Northwestern University and Southern Methodist University, respectively, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Higher Education from the University of North Texas. Additionally, Heather has served as a freelance bassoonist and assistant stockbroker, highlighting a diverse professional portfolio.
