Maarten Klapwijk is a scientific software engineer at Deltares, specializing in the Water Quality and Ecology department since October 2021, where responsibilities include developing and refactoring existing Fortran code as well as serving as a Scrum master. Prior to this, Maarten was a PhD candidate at both Delft University of Technology and MARIN from August 2017 to July 2021, earning a Doctor of Philosophy in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering. Maarten also has significant teaching experience, having served as the lead educator for Mathematics B and as an assistant teacher at Stichting Studiebegeleiding Leiden, as well as completing an internship focused on patent research and design for an offshore seaweed farm at Royal IHC. Maarten's academic credentials include a Cum Laude Master’s Degree in Marine Technology and a Cum Laude Bachelor's Degree in Naval Architecture/Maritime Engineering, both from Delft University of Technology.
