Adel Alshahrani

Adel Alshahrani has a diverse work experience in the field of information technology and cyber security. Adel currently holds the position of Head of Shared Services at the Government Expenditure & Projects Efficiency Authority, where they have been working since April 2022. Adel also serves as the Director of Information Technology and Cyber Security, a role they have held since August 2019.

Prior to their current position, Adel worked as the IT and Cyber Security Manager at Mashroat/Bechtel from August 2018 to August 2019. Before that, they were an IT Security Manager at Bechtel Corporation from January 2018 to August 2018.

Adel gained significant experience in IT security through their roles at BAE Systems Saudi Arabia. Adel worked as an IT Security Manager from May 2016 to January 2018 and as a Sr. IT Security Operations Specialist from February 2015 to May 2016. Adel also held the position of Senior IT Security Incident Handler from January 2014 to January 2015.

Earlier in their career, Adel worked as a Systems Security Engineer at RSAF - Royal Saudi Air Force from January 2012 to January 2014. Adel also pursued professional development in cyber security by participating in a program at SANS Institute in 2014.

Adel began their career as an IT Security Analyst and Researcher at DMU Cyber Security Centre, where they worked from June 2010 to December 2011. Adel also gained experience as a Programmer and Database Administrator at Abha College of Technology from June 2008 to October 2008.

Adel Alshahrani began their education journey by completing a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Computer Science at King Khalid University from 2003 to 2008. Afterward, they pursued a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Computer Security at De Montfort University from 2009 to 2010.

In terms of additional certifications, Adel obtained the following: Certified Information Security Manager® (CISM) from ISACA in October 2015, SANS GIAC Certified Incident Handler (GCIH) from GIAC in August 2015, ISO27001LA from BSI in April 2015, Certified Ethical Hacker CEHv8 from eccouncil in December 2014, and Security+ from CompTIA in August 2014. Adel also obtained certifications from Hewlett Packard Enterprise, including Certified ArcSight ESM Security Administrator and Analyst, as well as Certified ArcSight Logger Administration and Operations. Specific dates for the latter certifications were not provided.

In 2019, Adel enrolled in a program called Artificial Intelligence for Executives at IESE Business School. The field of study for this program was not specified.
