Siiri Rissanen

Siiri Rissanen has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and companies. Siiri currently serves as the Lead Application Scientist at Finnadvance, where they are responsible for project coordination, laboratory maintenance, and documentation. Their main focus is on the development of a Blood-Brain barrier-on-chip model for drug discovery. Previously, they worked as an Application Scientist at Finnadvance.

Prior to their time at Finnadvance, Siiri was a Master Thesis Student at the University of Eastern Finland. During this role, they conducted independent research on the development of a 3D Blood-brain-barrier-on-chip model and studied the effects of inflammation on barrier permeability.

Siiri also has experience as a Research and Development Engineer and a Point-of-Care Sequencing Biochemist at Finnadvance. In addition, they worked as a Salesperson at K-supermarket Joutsensilta and as a Coach at Oulun uinti.

Siiri Rissanen began their education in 2011 at Kastelli Upper Secondary School. Siiri graduated from Kastelli Upper Secondary School in 2014. In 2016, Siiri enrolled at the University of Oulu and pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry. Siiri completed their Bachelor's degree in 2019. During their undergraduate studies, Siiri also had the opportunity to participate in an Erasmus exchange program at the University of Kent in 2019, where they focused on Bioscience. After completing their Bachelor's degree, Siiri continued their education at the University of Oulu and enrolled in a Master of Science program in Molecular Medicine in 2019. Siiri is expected to complete their Master's degree in 2022.
