Robert Barnes has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and positions. Robert started their career in the Marine Corps Reserve as a Sergeant from 1961 to 1967. After that, they joined International Paper, where they served in roles such as General Manager of Container Operations, Division Manager, and National Account Sales from 1963 to 1981. From 1981 to 1988, they worked at Weyerhaeuser as a General Manager, overseeing packaging container plant operations and implementing Total Quality Systems. At Portland State University, they worked as a Graduate Instructor from 1994 to 1996, providing instruction on business principles to high school administrators and teachers. From 1990 to 1998, they served as the General Manager of Container Operations at BOISE CASCADE CORP, where they managed plant operations and developed strategic initiatives. In 1998, Robert founded their own consultancy firm, BCN - The Barnes Consulting Network, where they acted as President and Owner. Robert later joined Fresh Ideas Food Service Management as President in 2008, where they focused on employee participation, setting goals, and aligning the organization. Robert attended Clayton High School from 1953 to 1957, where they completed their General Studies, specifically in College/University Preparatory. Following this, they pursued a Bachelor of Arts in Economics at DePauw University from 1957 to 1961. Robert further enhanced their education by undertaking post-graduate studies in Business Administration General Management at Northwestern University School of Business from 1962 to 1963. Later, in 1976, they attended Harvard Business School for an executive leadership program called PMD, where they developed their skills in organizational development.
