Doug Cropper

President & CEO at Genesis Health System

Cropper directs all operational and strategic plans for the health system and its entities. He provides leadership for one of the nation's top 100 Integrated Health Systems, advancing the organization's mission "to provide compassionate, quality health services to all those in need," while ensuring quality, profitability, service excellence and growth.

Cropper grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah, where his father was a dentist and volunteered at the local children's hospital. It made enough of an impression on him that he decided to pursue his own career in health care. His first job was an operating room orderly. Now, with more than 30 years of health care experience, he has fulfilled a life-long career goal to lead a health system. With a focus on safety and quality, Cropper is working to guide Genesis to national recognition for its patient care.

Prior to joining Genesis in 2008, Cropper served as an executive vice president with Inova Health System, based in Falls Church, Virginia, and campus administrator of the more than 900-bed Inova Fairfax Hospital, named by U.S. News & World Report among "America's 50 Best" hospitals in seven specialties. Between 1991 and 2003, Cropper held various leadership positions with HealthEast, based in St. Paul, Minnesota. His last assignment with HealthEast was CEO of St. Joseph's Hospital and health system vice president. He is a 1984 graduate of the University of Utah and holds a Master's degree in Health Care and Hospital Administration from the University of Minnesota. An Eagle Scout, Cropper has volunteered for many years with the Boy Scouts of America. Cropper and his wife, Lynne, have four children.
